About John

John is an accomplished and award-winning singer-songwriter hailing from Central Indiana. With a passion for creating original music, he has successfully released two projects comprising a diverse blend of Bluegrass, blues, country, and folk genres, with a third project currently in development.

Boasting over three decades of guitar-playing experience, John's musical journey began with fingerstyle/Travis style picking, and later transitioned into Bluegrass flatpicking. His performances are characterized by captivating melodies infused with delightful twists that leave a lasting impression on the listener.

John's songwriting encompasses a wide range of emotions, from poignant and introspective to lighthearted and whimsical, with instrumental compositions adding further depth to his repertoire. Whether performing as a solo act or leading the talented Lenwood Trio, John's ability to craft narrative-driven songs is reminiscent of his esteemed influences such as John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark, and other notable artists.

In his recordings, John collaborates with a skilled lineup of musicians, including the accomplished Doug Sauter on mandolin, banjo, and harmony vocals, as well as the versatile Rod Schindler on bass and accordion. Notably, Grammy winner Michael Cleveland and Jeff Guernsey make guest appearances, showcasing their mastery of the fiddle.
